Working in partnership with local churches, we support and coordinate the Open the Book project in Shipley, providing volunteer storytelling teams to provide regular assemblies in partner schools.
How does it work?
Open the Book is a national project, using Bob Hartman’s Lion Storytelling Bible as the basis for a regular programme of assemblies, building up to give children an overview of the big Bible story.
A team of volunteers is partnered with a local school to provide regular assemblies, with stories supported by innovative props created by other local volunteers.
Our role in Shipley involves coordinating the project behind the scenes and liaising with the schools/storytelling teams. Volunteer storytellers are required to register with us under our safeguarding policy.
There is no cost to schools to be involved with the project – contact us to find out more.
